My iPad has shut down!! HELP??

A couple of days ago my iPad just shut down completely, so i pushed the home and lock screen button down together but it shut down a couple of hours after so i repeated the same thing and it worked. but then it continued to shut down so i kept doing the same procedure but now it wont turn on. my screen is completely black but it has the sounds when i plug the charger in and when i screenshot. but i cant connect to iTunes. this also happened after the new update.
