How to move iTunes to another disk

My Local Disk (C:) is running low on memory. I can't back up completely and everytime my iPhone syncs to iTunes the drive's memory get's lower. It is already 122 mb for the free space and I fear that my laptop will crash if I don't move it. Please help ASAP.

First consolidate you library if not all you music tracks are in the iTunes Media folder. In theory you should be able to do it after you move your iTunes folder, but I haven't tried that. You may not have enough space to consolidate if your disk is very full and you have a lot of tracks outside iTunes.

Copy your iTunes folder with all its contents from Music to the new disk.

Then you need a shift key start to tell iTunes where to look.

Hold down the shift key and start iTunes, keep holding the shift key until you are prompted to choose or create a library, select choose.

Navigate to the location of your new iTunes folder and choose iTunes library.itl

Check that it works.

If you were not able to consolidate first, check that iTunes can still find the tracks not in the iTunes folder and assuming it can, consolidate to copy them to new disk.

If everything works you can go back and delete the originals.

Be aware that if you ever start iTunes with the disk disconnected, you will need to do another shift key start after connecting the disk.

This answer sounds great but if you are running Apple hardware I believe that is is the option key that you want to hold down while launching iTunes to get the create select library prompt
