3TB WD Drive in EZ

I have an older EZ-Dock that I'm pretty sure is my problem here; from what I'm reading this is often indicative of an Oxford chipset or other problematic older tech in the enclosure.  These 3TB Western Digital drives format to full size and work fine when installed in my Mac Pro directly, but then, they can't be read through the Kingwin EZ-Dock.  I'm looking for a recommendation for a new external dock that will work with the ports available to me on my old Mac Pro ("Early 2009" model running 10.8.5) if anyone with a good experience can share their successful brand/model.

Old drive enclosures sometimes cannot accept drive larger than 2.2TB and would exhibit the symptoms you describe. That enclosure may work fine for smaller drives.
