Cannot contact itunes store

I tried to update my credit card details but when I selected edit against card number itunes stopped working and closed down.  I tired selecting None under the card details and now I cannot log into my account.

I updated my software on my Windows 7 laptop, now when I open up itunes and select store it just continues to say "accessing itunes store" but does not complete.

I can access my library but that all.

I cannot create a new ID either.

Any ideas ?
