Hello Daniel,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that you would like to use your Apple Pencil on your iPad Pro to mark up PDFs. First, you will need to choose a method to import the PDFs to your iPad Pro. One method would be to email the documents to yourself and open the documents on the iPad Pro. Another would be to upload the documents to iCloud Drive via iCloud.com from your computer.

iCloud Drive FAQ - Apple Support

How do I access my files in iCloud Drive?

There are multiple ways you can access your files in iCloud Drive:

  • Using any supported web browser, you can use iCloud Drive at iCloud.com.
  • On your Mac, you can go to iCloud Drive in Finder.
  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11 or later, you can access your files from the Files app. On iOS 9 or iOS 10, you can access them from the iCloud Drive app.
  • On your PC with Windows 7 or later and iCloud for Windows, you can go to iCloud Drive in File Explorer.

When you add your Desktop and Documents to iCloud Drive, all of your files move to iCloud. On your Mac, you can find the files on your Desktop and in your Documents folder in Finder under iCloud. If you add a second Mac Desktop, you'll find those files in the Desktop folder in iCloud Drive. A folder is created with the same name as your second Mac.

Once your files have been uploaded to iCloud.com, you can access them using the Files app on your iPad Pro as described above.

Best Regards.

You need a wireless flash drive.

For the file transfer part, your average common flash drive will not work. iDevices do not have USB ports, nor do they have a file manager which is what allows you to get at the files.

There are a few special lightning drives that will work with iDevices (they use an app to access the files)

But for the most basic issue, you will need to get those files onto your iPad another way, if they are on a flash drive, your will need to plug that drive into a computer, then upload the files via something like dropbox, or e-mail them to yourself and save them from that mail into your iPad.
