MacBook Pro slow processes, Safari, Word, Excel

Hi all,

 

Safari searches are much slower than Firefox (even to get going and also to provide results). So much slower something is clearly wrong (we have consistent 100MB fibre).

 

Here is my Etrecheck straight after a turn-off and startup. I know it says excellent, but that doesn't mean the computer runs at a decent speed!

 

I use Norton 360 and make sure I keep it up to date. I do my updates (sometimes slightly behind, but basically keep up to date).

 

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
