Fix hacked YouTube account

Your account may have been hacked, hijacked, or compromised if you see:

  • Changes you didn’t make: Your profile picture, descriptions, email settings, or sent messages are different.
  • Uploaded videos that aren't yours: Someone has posted videos as your account. You may see email notifications about these videos, sometime in relation to penalties or strikes against bad content.

For help getting back in to your account:

  1. Go to the Account support page.
  2. Follow the instructions. You'll be asked some questions to confirm it's your account. Answer as best you can.
  3. Reset your password. Choose a strong password that you haven't already used with this account. Learn how to create a strong password.
