Downloads folder opens new items in terminal...

Hi all, I've searched the forum, but only found 1 potential solution which didn't work on my machine.

Downloads folder wants to open in terminal

Every time I download a new file / app / program to the downloads folder and try to launch it, the Terminal app opens, auto writes a few lines then nothing happens. See attached screen grab. This has happened with multiple downloads.

Can anyone please offer any advise?
