Disable MacBook Pro BatteryLevelPolicy?

Hi!

Is it possible for one (self / technichian) to disable or change the MacBook Pro battery level policy? To allow processes such as iCloud Photos sync even though battery level is and will remain 0%?

Rationale in console message below is fair enough and I'm aware running on AC only isn't recommended, though would very much like to sweet talk my MBP into changing this FinalDecision...

Background:

My MacBook Pro 13 unibody stopped charging two weeks ago, a few days after a very small tea spill (bottom left of part of keyboard). Battery was fine before this and no traces of damage on battery connector or visible side of logic board - suspecting damaged logic board or magsafe unit. The laptop too old to motivate replacement of new logic board or repair work. Logic board cleaning w alcohol and/or replacement with used logic board, should I be able to find one, are options at hand, but want to understand my options first. Also not keen on buying a new battery just to try to rule that out. I've found nowhere online addressing the topic, only hints on cleaning/replacements, and closest Mac repair shop I spoke to on phone had no idea of if such settings could be overridden, and cost of physical repair work not motivated.

For clarity - in general the MBP runs fine, only some processes won't run due to the battery level; iCloud Drive synchs, whereas e.g. bird and photolibraryd and cloudphotosd won't. Having a working iCloud Photos synch is the core need of mine.

Model info:

MacbookPro5,5  (13" unibody mid-2009) kept alive through 8GB RAM, SSD insertion and battery replacement. No warranties remaining.

Running macOS High Sierra unsupported. Now clean install, have only signed in to iCloud. Same issue also before reinstall (but after liquid), then running Sierra - Photos wouldn't sync but e.g. iCloud Drive does.

Actions taken:

- Resets of PRAM, SMC

- Reinstall os clean

- Physically cleaned magsafe connectors, removed battery, cleaned battery connectors

- Tried different chargers

- Checked batt voltage without load, thus not saying much, no indication it being depleted.

- Have NOT yet disassembled further than removing battery

- Geekbench test to understand if running at low CPU due to AC only - showing better results (remembering newly installed) than the model benchmark
