I have a keyboard problem

I have a keyboard problem too.  The hijklmnop keys do not work (using a USB keyboard now).

Problem started with 10.12.6 upgrade.

IT IS NOT a physical or HW problem.  How do I know? 2 things.  #1 I have an "l" in my password and it works when logging in but not after login is complete.  #2  when I log in as "Guest" all keys work!

I went to the local Genius bar,  and tried on-line chat.  No fix.    Their only solution is restore from backup.  Because it is not a HW problem, the error, whatever it is, exists on my back up too.

What could be in my User configuration could be blocking this set of keys?

Have you tried booting in safe mode? Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Solution found!!!!

Go to System Preferences -> Accessibility->Mouse & Trackpad then Uncheck "Enable Mouse Keys".

I found this after 2 trips to Apple Store Genius Bar, 2 on-line chat sessions multiple OS restores. About 5-6 hours total.

Apple support had no clue.

I had same issue on MacBook Pro and fortunately had AppleCare. Have to send to them to fix. It’s a known issue with the 2016 MacBook Pro. A friend sent it to AppleCare and damaged it more and the touchbar was missing when they sent him back the MacBook Pro. He took it to an apple store and they sent it off again to AppleCare to fix.
