Can I create an iTunes store account online, or...

I have an apple TV (3rd gen), and an Android phone.  Do I have to buy another device just to get an iTunes account so I can rent movies through the Apple tv, or is there a way to create an iTunes store account online, or through the Apple tv?  I managed to create an apple ID online (no small feat), but now it says I need to have it linked to an iTunes account.

You can create an account via https://appleid.apple.com, there is a 'Create Your Apple Id' link/button towards the top right of that page. But as you are posting on here you already have an account.

What is the exact text of the message and when are you getting it ?

On the Apple tv, after entering my Apple ID and password. I'll have to get back to you on the exact message.

The exact message is :"Before using this Apple ID on your Apple TV, you must first login into an iOS device, Mac, or PC to create an iTunes Store Account."

Have you got a computer with iTunes installed on it ? If you have go to the Account drop-down menu

Just the Android tablet/phone and the Apple TV.   Back when I had a PC, iTunes was the most hated piece of software on it.

Do you have access to any computer with iTunes e.g. a family member or friend ? You will need to do as the message says to do

So I guess the answer to the question is "No"?  Apple TV does not support renting movies, etc, without the purchase of a companion device of some kind. Dang.

Wow sqme problem so i litter got to have a diffrent apple device to use the apple tv.. Can you say return much.. Is there no way to use my android phone to make a itunes store acct or use yhe tv device itsself??? Here let me sell u this perfectly good car but the ransmisson is sold seprate...??
