Watch is 4 has updated but on phone app shows a...

I updated my iPhone and watch to the latest os versions tonight. After an age watch os 4 finally finished and the watch rebooted. Am using it but when I went into the watch app on the phone and checked for updates afterwards it shows the watch os 4 as installing still and seems to be stuck there. How do I get rid of this? I restarted both the phone and watch snd went back to the app and checked updates but it’s still stuck on installing. Very baffled. It should show the version I’m on and that it’s the latest

It may help to force the Watch app to close and then restart both devices again (normally), turning both off together and then restarting your iPhone first:

 

I had(?) exactly the same issue.

 

I had already tried force closing the Watch app on the iPhone and restoring both devices to apparently no avail. Later I noticed that going into 'updates' the watch app would briefly say 'up to date' before reverting to 'installing'.

 

Just now I checked again and now upon selecting 'updates' in the watch app, I get the whirly 'checking for updates' followed by the report that my watch is up to date. This seems to be reliably succeeding at the moment. It seems to have resolved itself (server issue?)

Yeah same as me. I restarted the devices but it made no diff plus force quit the app. In the end I put my watch back on charge and left it next to my iPhone for a while longer. When I came back the whirly check for updates happened and said I’m upto date. More poor QA from Apple but I guess it needed more time. very disaapointed with the update, no longer able to browse music library on my phone from the watch. I dont go in for local sync of songs to watch. Thats a feature I used a lot and didn’t realise they were cutting it. Why why do they do things like this!
