Need help with finding globe icon on keyboard

I have the new iPad. My friend has the ipad2 and is able to send me emoticons in messages by clicking on the globe button on the keypad. I do not however see a globe button onmy keypad. How do I get access to the globe button?

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and add a keyboard and the globe icon will appear.

I just activated iPhone 8 plus.  I’ve set up keyboards for multiple languages.  However my text doesn’t show the globe to select the prefer language at time of text.  This was working for iPhone 6 Plus.

Any help is appreciated
