My Imessage is not working... HELP!

On my ipod, my imessage won't open. I can still recive messages and reply to them by sliding them down but I can't open the imessage app and respond from there....  Oh, and i've also restarted my iPod multiple times and closed and reopened imessage multiple times... What do I do?
