iTunes does not work with El Capitan

i installed the last version of iTunes with OS X 10.11.6 and just does not work the application would not open

Try re-downloading and installing iTunes from here:

https://www.apple.com/itunes/download

I did and the installer is also unresponsive.. i had a huge library i left it with app not responding checking the library and see whether it works overnight
