iPad pro 10.5 headphone audio quality

I just bought the iPad pro 10.5 and noticed that the audio quality from the headphone jack is not as good as the output from my iPad pro 9.7 or iPhone 6s.  The bass is not as deep and the clarity for vocal and instruments are not as clean/precise.  The audio from the 10.5 is not bad, but if I play the same song from my library on the iPad 10.5/iPad 9.7/iPhone 6s, the difference is noticeable.  Both the iPad pro 9.7 & iPhone 6s sounds the same (excellent), but the iPad 10.5 is sub-par (although still good).  Does anyone know if there were changes to the audio output for the iPad 10.5? Anyone else notice any difference?  Trying to figure out if I just got a bad unit, or if there were actual design changes in the iPad 10.5.
