13" or 15" MacBook Pro (2017) for 1080p video e...
Hello all,
Up until now I have been using a 2012 MacBook Pro to edit 1080p videos (using raw MOV files from a Canon 5D) up to 15 minutes long on FCP X and Premiere CC. I am now looking to upgrade because my machine is aging and because I want to start editing longer videos.
I am torn between the 2017 13″ MacBook Pro and the 2017 15 MacBook Pro. Besides the price, I would prefer the portability of the 13″ as I travel a lot.
That said, do you think the 13 inch's integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 is sufficient for editing 1080p video (from Canon 5D raw MOV files)? I am mostly looking for non-lagging real-time editing with basic effects (no animation or crazy graphics yet) and reasonable rendering times. I would mostly use FCP X but would occassionaly also use Premiere CC.
Thanks in advance!
