iMac 14,4 fails to start, faint clicking noise ...

Hello,

I have an iMac 14,4 that does not start. We have ruled out a display issue and are fairly certain this is a power issue.

When the power button is held down in effort to start the computer, a very faint click can be heard from the back of the unit, and then nothing. This can be done over and over again. The screen stays black. We're assuming this is a power failure, but want to make sure there is no other recourse before we reach out to Apple, as our warranty on this system has expired.
