Is the watchOs 4.0.1 update just for series 3?

I have a series 2 watch. I saw on several Twitter posts that there is a os 4.0.1 update which helps with connectivity issues on series 3 among other things. I have checked software update for my phone but it still says it’s up to date with 4.0. I have done all the usual things: power watch/iPhone on/off, unpair/pair watch, etc. Is there something I forgot to do?

First update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS, then update your Apple Watch:

 

I already have. I took the beta profile off as well on my phone. I am running iOS 11.0.2 on my phone and watchOS 4.0.
