How do you permanently remove old Reminders

After changing my Apple ID, and still in iOS 10.3.3, old Reminders keep popping up, and no matter how many times I edit the categories to eliminate them, they keep popping up. Am I missing a step somewhere? My Mac, iPad Air 2, and iPhone 7 all have the new ID.
