Add phone number to iMessenger

I have an iPad Pro. I have a Samsung phone. I want to add my phone to iMessenger to send/receive text messages. Can this be done?

iMessage only works to/from Apple devices. If you want to use a cellular telephone with iMessage, an iPhone is required.

I don't think so. You would have to have the iMessage app on you phone.
