MacBook to Mac Pro migration options?

I'm a musician, and use my Mac for just about everything I do. I just dropped about $3500 on a new Mac Pro, for better performance, and I couldn't be more excited. But I just tried to migrate from my old MacBook Pro 2012, that I upgraded to have 1 TB, and the Mac Pro somehow only has 256 GB of space? Yes, I see it stated everywhere I look now, but I must have missed it when I was purchasing it.

I have over 600 GB on my old Mac, practically all from my library of sounds. Is there a way to avoid spending another $1000 on a storage upgrade? Or am I stuck? Should I just skip the migration entirely and use an external drive to access my libraries?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
