Apple Watch case

What is the difference between the aluminum, stainless steel and ceramic watches? Are the different in terms of quality or just the optics?

it is the material the case is constructed of. The stainless steel case is different than aluminum, as is different from ceramic. The devices themselves are the same.

Aluminium models have Ion-X glass (these watches are lighter in weight than stainless steel models of the same case size).

 

Besides the difference in physical characteristics vs aluminium, stainless steel and ceramic / Edition watches have a sapphire crystal, which is more scratch resistant than Ion-X glass.

 

Apple Watch Edition / ceramic cases are more than four times as hard as stainless steel, with a finish that Apple states will not scratch or tarnish.
