Mail maximum sync limit

Hello everyone,

I am using a Mac Mini from late 2014 with the latest version of macOS Sierra. Since a couple weeks I migrated my mail from Google to Office 365 and I am using the Mail app to send and receive mail. My mailbox is huge and when I open the mail app it takes hours to sync.

Is there a way to set a limit for syncronizing?
