my new macbook 2017 (retina display) cannot det...

I just got the new Macbook 2017 with retina display. I am trying to connect to external display monitor Asus. It says HDMI no signal. Same setup I was using for old Macbook Air, but had to add a thunderbolt 3 adapter. So it is connecetd with HDMI, plus thunderbolt 1, plus thunderbolt 3 adapters.

• DisplayPort or mini DisplayPort displays

You need a USB-C to HDMI adapter such as:
