No SIM card installed keeps popping up

I have been using my wifi/cellular iPad mini without a SIM card for the last eight months without a problem. I 'upgraged' to os8 a couple of days ago and now I get a pop up telling me there's no SIM card installed every few minutes. It popped up twice whilst trying to type this message. I have looked everywhere in settings for a way to disable it, thinking that perhaps certain apps were prompting it. Will I have to put a sim card to avoid this? I was told when I bought it, that without a SIM card it would be just like a wifi only ipad. or will I have to reset it to factory settings and load everything again? Thanks in advance.

Turn off cellular data.

FullSizeRender.jpgIMG_3137.jpgThanks Jonathan,

that was my first thought, but because there's no SIM card installed, there is a "no sim" next to the Cellular Data setting and it does not click. That setting is grey, unlike the rest of the settings which all appear black. Regards.

Same thing here on my iPad mini Retina 64GB wifi/cellular without a SIM card.

I don't use a SIM card with it, and I've never had this issue under IOS7.

Installed IOS8 on September 17. No problems until today, then this "No SIM card installed" popup has started appearing every few minutes.

No change to Settings has been made since the upgrade.

Turning off/on or resetting doesn't solve the issue.

Hello everyone,

I have the same problem, I have already updated the system to the new version and every 2 minutes the information about no sim card is popping up. Does anyone know the solution to fix this bug?

Same problem, since iOS 8 upgrade.

Same problem for me.. Since upgrade to iOS 8.

I also have the same problem since I update my ipad mini to iOS 8! Any suggestions will be great! I have an ipad mini wifi/celular 32gb ios8! Thanks in advance!

Same issue here. Turning off Location Services completely stops the messages, but this is hardly a good solution. Looks like IOS 8 thinks that any SIM capable iPad has a mobile connection which it can ping for location data, whether or not it has a SIM installed.

In short, it looks like a bug. ISTR that a reboot on IOS 7 would show the no SIM card message once only on start up.

hhelp,!, Same Help!!! Pop up of no sim installed on iPad mini... I hope apple reads and responds to this issue soon... Pop ups even with the iPad on airplane mode...help!!!

Same issue here,

Hi y'all ,

I've found a temporary solution to it. In settings go to general and allow restrictions. On restrictions look for cellular data and tick "don't allow changes". Hope this works.

iOS 8.0.2 doesn't solve the issue.

I've installed it over iOS 8.0, but nothing has changed, the message has appeared twice while I was writing. That's quite annoying.

Same issue here. The popups come over when I try tos download apps, or books from iTunes. IPad mini cellular 16Gb with nos SIM inserted.

I have an iPad mini 64gb retina cellular with the same problem (I have no SIM card installed)

What seems to work (although it's only a work around) is:

Turn on Airplane mode, then go to wifi and turn on wifi again. (yes, you can turn on wifi in airplane mode)

Hope Apple fixes this annoying issue fast!
