iPad stolen. Put lost mode. Keep checking, but ...

Had iPad stolen in Barcelona Metro.

I immediately put it in lost mode through Find iPhone app in my iPhone.

I keep regularly checking, but thief never connects to Internet.

Why? What is going on?? Are they keeping it under the mattress?

Have they managed to circunvent the lock?

Are they selling it for parts?
