CD Burning Issues (iTunes)

Hi folks,

Just a quick question, I have a late 2009 iMac running Sierra and when attempting to burn CD's through iTunes the computer is having problems.

As usual I create a playlist, add my songs and use the "burn playlist to disc" option. I've unticked sound checker and CD text as they are't really needed and in the past I've turned the burn speed down to x8 (which worked previously).

Today I've tried twice to burn a disc but I get the same error each the time, even turning the speed down to x4 its no good.. The CD appears to be burning, going through each song as it should but when the status changes to "finishing" I'm greeted with this:

So am I right in guessing its the drive? or a software issue?
