iMac is not showing up as secondary display now

Since I purchased my MacBook pro about a month ago, I've been using my iMac (mid 2011) as a secondary display. I had to disconnect to take my laptop with me for about a week, and now the iMac won't show up as a secondary display anymore. It's all connected the same way as before. I don't know what else to try. I zapped the PRAM on the iMac, I've shut everything down, checked the connections and restarted, checked my preferences, I don't know what the problem could be. Any suggestions of what else I could do or check?
