Digital crown resistance

I just purchased the Apple watch series 3 LTE and noticed my digital crown has a little bit of resistance when turning it. My wife's turns much smoother
 with ease. Her older series 2 also was smooth. Did I jus
t get a dud?

It can be normal for the Digital Crown to offer a little bit of resistance when turning it, but not excessively so or unevenly.

 

Over time, operation of the Digital Crown can also be affected by substances like dust or lotion. If it stops operating as expected, then it may help to clean it by following the steps here:

 

 

If you remain concerned about a potential manufacturing defect, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider with a view to arranging for your Apple Watch to be inspected and, if recommended, serviced:

    

I honestly would have thought it was normal if I had no other watches to compare to but just figured it should be a little bit smoother. I honestly rarely use it but still want a normal working watch. I do have Apple Care so I'm good either way if it gets worse. Thanks for your response.
