Brightness changes with extended display

I have a MacBook Pro 2016 with Touch Bar.

I recently upgraded to High Sierra.

Whenever I connect my MBP to an extended display, the brightness increases automatically.

Fixes tried:

-The checkbox for "Automatically adjust brightness" in Display settings is unchecked

-SMC and NVRAM reset

-macOS reinstall through Recovery
