Need to keep iOS apps on Mac drive?

With iOS apps taken out of iTunes, that still leaves all the apps in the iTunes folder on the Mac. Are they just taking up unnecessary space and should be deleted or is there some reason for them to remain there?

If you have apps there that are no longer available in the

App Store, you will want to save them in case you need to

restore your iDevice as they won't be available for download.

And by the way, if you will be updating to iOS 11, any 32 bit

apps you have will be useless as iOS11 only supports 64bit.

If you have iOS10, you should have already got warnings about

that.
