Facetime on MacBook

I just bought my MacBook on August 20, 2017 and it is up to date with all software updates (macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6) but every time I FaceTime, the person I FaceTime has a problem hearing me and says that I sound far away or that the volume is very low. How would I be able to fix this problem because I use FaceTime a lot and I just got this computer.

• Check System Preferences > Sound > Input
• Always face the computer and speak clearly toward the computer's microphone.
