I usually download important iOS apps (work) from iTunes on my laptop, and others directly from iPad App Store.  I backup and sync the iPad with iTunes after updating several apps. AlI of the app updates appear in the iOS App Store Updates tab, and the "work" app updates only on iTunes. So, it seems that the apps downloaded directly in iTunes and then synced to iPad are actually all on the iPad, which is key here.

Once I upgrade, can I be guaranteed that all my apps will be on the iPad?

Will I lose the 4-5 apps that devs have withdrawn from App Store - and on the iPad now?

Can I still back up with iTunes?

When I do a restore, I won't lose the apps downloaded in iTunes, and synced to iPad right?
