Level Meter Plug In not working on master buss

This is a weird one. I usually insert the Level Meter plug-in at the end of my chain on the master stereo out. For some reason it has stopped registering any signal, yet sound is still passing through. Actually, to be more specific, just today it started acting funny--the signal it was registering was jumpy, sporadic, erratic, though the audio coming through was fine. So, I took it out and re-inserted a few times. It didn't improve and then it just eventually went "dead" registering no signal (in any of the available presets/settings), yet as I say, audio was still passing through fine. However, if I insert that plug-in apparently anywhere else--on a track, etc. it works as expected. Its only the master stereo out that it's doing this all of a sudden. Very strange. I restarted several times, etc. and no luck. I'm in the middle of a big project so I'm not gonna try any updates, etc. for the time being, and of course I can certainly get by fine w/o this plug-in as I have other metering options, but it's just very odd all of a sudden to start behaving this way. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
