Touch Bar Not Working

I've got something interesting going on with my Touch Bar on my 2015 MacBook Pro 13". Two "keys" on the far left are working and the Touch ID key works but the keys in between don't. No matter what application is up they simply don't work. The Touch Bar displays the keys but when you press on the key nothing happens. At one time all of the keys worked. I've updated to macOS High Sierra and the keys in the middle area of the Touch Bar are still non-functioning?

Is this likely a hardware issue or a software issue?

It sounds like a hardware issue. I would bring bring the Mac to an Apple Store “genius” bar for a free diagnosis and repair as needed: https://support.apple.com/contact
