iPad constantly loses wifi connection

I have an iPad and a iPad 2. They both disconnect from my home wifi connection constantly, every few minutes. I could be standing right next to the router and the problem persists. Surely this isn't the normal function of a $400+ device that claims "iPad with Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay connected". I also have a macbook and an iMac which have no issues connecting to the wifi. Is there something wrong with the iPad? Can you change the settings to solve the problem?

Are you sure you have an iPad 2 and not a 3?  This is a very rare issue in the Model 2.

Try this:

Open up the Settings app on your device and tap on the ‘General’ tab, then tap ‘Network’ and then ‘Wi-Fi’. Find the Wi-Fi network you’re currently connected to, and then tap on the blue arrow next to its name.

Now tap the ‘Forget this Network button’, and then ‘Forget’.

Now reconnect to the same network and if it worked, you should get a full network connection

If not, there’s another fix you can try:

Go back to the Settings app and under the ‘General’ tab, tap ‘Reset’ then ‘Reset Network Settings’. You will lose all of your Wi-Fi passwords by doing this. Once the process is complete, reboot your iPad and connect to your Wi-Fi network again.

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at https://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Thank you its working properly now

In my case the problem was the VPN.  When I disabled NordVPN, the iPad connected to the wi-fi network.  This problem occurred before and also after updating to iOS 11.  Still trying to figure out why the VPN was an issue in blocking connection to the wi-fi network.
