iPad backup crashing iOS 11

I have 9.7" iPad Pro, WiFi, running iOS 10.3.3. I was so excited when iOS 11 was released as I use my iPad in serious stuff, as part of my teaching duties. I backed the iPad then upgraded over the air. The process seemed to have gone well, but at the end, I got a black iPad screen with white Apple logo and that's it. This lasts for few seconds then disappear. If I do a hard restart, the same screen appear for few seconds and disappear. I tried so many things without success. What I did:

1) updated over the air and via iTunes

2) restored via iTunes

3) restored via iCloud

4) tried hard restart after each of the above

Nothing worked.

If I erase everything and install iOS 11 as a new device, the iPad will work. But once I restore from any backup, the screen fails to open.

Interestingly, the iPad seems to be working in the background as I can see all the content (via iTunes 12.6) including the Apps in the order I put them in the folders, etc. The songs are there and the iPad memory seems to be occupied by data. I can even add content to the iPad via iTunes. The only catch, is the screen won't open up and is stuck on the black screen.

Then I downgraded back to 10.3.3 and restored from the same backup, that worked perfectly.

I know now that (1) my iPad is ok (2) my backup is ok. It seems that there is something in the backup that is causing the crash on iOS 11. Hard to know what it is though.

Of course I contacted Apple support 3 times. The first 2 failed to solve the problem and they actually advised me to through away my backup and start from scratch. They didn't tell me about the possibility of downgrading, as it seems it is against their policy! Though, downgrading actually helped me save important content. On the 3rd contact, they said they are going to escalate it to technical team and get back to me, hopefully in 2 days. I will post it here if they solve my problem.

I am writing this on the iPad running 10.3.3.

Any body had same issue? Any solutions?
