I have made a huge beginner Mac error! How do I...

I deleted files in the all my files folder not understanding that this would also delete the files stored in the seperatly named folder. I have since emptied the trash, and now I am desperate to get these files back. I Mac Sierra. Please tell me it is possible to recover these!
