replace 2010 Mac Pro boot disk with 2011 MacBoo...

My 2011 MacBook Pro graphics card died. It's boot disk was an SSD. Can I put that SSD into a 2010 Mac Pro tower and expect it to function as its boot drive? Would the licensed programs on the boot disk carry over as well?

The MacBook Pro was running 10.12. It's a late-2011 model.
