How to sync PDF annotations across iOS and OS X?

Hello,

I am a College student and working with PDF documents intensely. I have tons of PDF files synced to my Dropbox account and they are mostly 1000+ pages of  textbooks. During the lectures I am using my iPad for annotating the PDF files that I am working on and while studying home I am continuing where I left off with my Macbook.

The issue is: the average size of my textbooks is 300mb and the apps I am using (PDF Expert, Good Notes, Notability) are trying to sync the whole document even if I highlight just a single word. Therefore, mostly It takes really long time waiting it to be synced and moreover; If I open the same document on my computer while the iPad is syncing, I am seeing 2 - 3 copies of the same document. In short, I need an app that pushes just the annotations to my mac rather than erasing the unmodified copy on my Dropbox and uploads the whole modified document to the cloud. The interface doesn't have to be Dropbox necessarily. I just want to annotate my pdf files using my Mac and iPad and see the modifications on both devices instantaneously. (Like working on a text file using Pages for Mac and Pages for iPad simultaneously)

Hi there

I haw the exact same problem. Seems to beat the purpose of using your iPad to annotate, if you can't see the modifications on your Mac without the hassle of syncing whole files. It's great how iBooks syncs everything seamlessly, your bookmarks, locations etc.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

Regards

Frimann

Look at an app like PDF Expert. It has versions for both iPad and Mac. I believe it will sync across both devices. It's not free but it's also a whole lot better for PDF management than iBooks.
