Folder with question mark on startup

Started my Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2010 at school and unlike previous days it took ages to start up and then had a flickering folder with question mark sign.

Googled heaps to sort this out and I got up to a point where I first-aided my Macintosh hard-drive.

So first-aid goes well, no problems but the drive stays as OS X Base system.

Tried going into Start-up disk, nothing appears. Tried Reinstalling macOS but no disk shown.

The drive only allows me to do first-aid and info button. Partition, erase, restore and umount button unavailable.

So I reboot, check my drive again and it's still OS X Base system.

Tried googling of what the heck to do in this situation but nada.

Really need help to fix this, really need my laptop for school

The OS X Base System entry is Apple’s Internet Recovery, not your hard drive. If the Disk Utility doesn’t see the internal drive, it’s either dead or not properly connected; in either case, this issue requires a hardware repair.
