Macbook Pro not connecting to AirPlay

I just purchased a new laptop (Macbook Pro running MacOS Sierra (10.12.6) and I have an Apple TV (3rd generation, model A1427, 7.2.2).

I have no issues using AirPlay via my Apple Phone. I cannot for the life of me get AirPlay to work using it from the computer. The icon shows up on the desktop. I have tried various settings in the Display menu. I've tried renewing the DHCP Lease. Both devices are on the same wi-fi network. Bluetooth is off on the laptop.

I get a black screen every time I try to connect AirPlay. I can hear audio through my TV of whatever I am playing on my computer, but no video (just a blank screen).

I have tried playing only videos via Safari, QT, and iTunes.
