Internal speakers not working on MacBook Air

 I purchased a 2014 MacBook air about a week ago, everything was working great until yesterday when the sound wasn't working.  I went to the settings and internal speakers wasn't an option.  The only options were " selected output device"  and "headphones"  when I plug in my headphones I can hear fine, but there's no sound when I unplug them. There's no red light in the port, and I have tried resetting the NVRAM  to no avail. I'm running on macOS Sierra can anyone help?
