cannot connect to Epson scanner : can print but...

HI

Since migrating to Yosemite - I can no longer use the Epson scanner.

I can print wirelessly so there's no connection problem.

My printer is Epson Stylus BX635FWD

I have just updated to the latest SW, so that's not the issue.  

I keep getting the following message:

What driver are you using? If you are not using the Epson driver, have you tried adding the printer with the Epson driver?

Yes, please define what you mean by updated your software.  Are you referring to your OS or did you download software from Epson's site?  The drivers in Apple Software Update will be the most current... the software on Epson's site is from 2013.

Try Applications/Image Capture or VueScan.

thanks for all the replies - I've managed to figure out what I did wrong:

in previous OS I used this application

At some point I realised that I need to go to this app

open it and select the 'Scanner' tab

So all is sorted out now.

I don't usually add to these threads as I find so many "answers" or "suggestions" unhelpful and merely lengthen the search for the solution.

However, I followed your question concerning not being able to connect an Epson scanner to a macbook as I had the same problem - printer works, but not scanner.  Your simple, picture based solution worked immediately for me.  Plus I have a different Epson model to yours.
