The operation can’t be completed because ...

I'm trying to empty my trash but I keep getting the following message: The operation can’t be completed because the item “0228D324-2F30-4E61-EEAB-A9E6DC8AE88E.isdata” is in use.

The code before the .isdata extension varies each time but the message keeps popping up and is preventing me from emptying the trash. Anyway I can get rid of it? I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) and my system is running El Capitan (10.11.5).
