Quad Core Mac mini.

Why did Apple discontinue the Quad core Mac Mini?

Only Apple knows and they are not here.

I have read that the performance of the quad core was better than the current dual core.  If I were to find a quad core, why shouldn't I buy it? 

Be sure to check everything out with spec before purchasing anything.

A quad core using old chip designs can in fact be slower then a dual core using newer chip designs. There is more to performance then just the number of cores.

I realise that and thank you for the answer.  I am certainly minor league understanding how all the factors affect performance, but still, it's a good question.  Once upon a time, the big issue was heat, and my Mac mini (dual core) does get hot.
