No flashlight or calculator in my control cente...

Downloaded OS 7, then went into utilities to set things the way I like them. Later I noticed that my control center is missing the flashlight and the calculator. I am using the newest iPad. I have google all I can think of, but no one else seems to have had this problem. Did I somehow toggle them off?

Those features are for the iPhone not the iPad.

Why in the world would Apple not include a simple thing like a calculator in the iPad version of iOS 7??

Makes zero sense!

They've never had a built in calculator app on any iPad under any version of iOS. So not being there in iOS 7 makes perfect sense.

Yes, I know they never included a calculator in any iPad iOS version, which is why I asked why they wouldn't include one with iOS 7.

And I already answered you. If they have not had a calculator or weather app under iOS 3, 4, 5 or 6 why do you thing that iOS 7 is special?

There is no flash, so just what good would a flashily app do?

There are loads and loads of perfectly good calculator apps, many of them free in the app store.  Download one.

And since iPad has never had a flash, ever, how could they include a flashlight?

That isn't an answer, you merely stated the very obvious. Please, don't feel the need to provide any additional "answers".

There are no any additional answers. The executives at Apple decided not to inlcude the Calculator and Weather apps with the introdution of the iPad and have never done so since then. No one knows why. You could write to Tim Cook and ask him why but I doubt you will get an answer.

I'm not sure why you expect deggie to speak on behalf of Apple when this is a user-to-user community.

Deggie did provide you with an answer, whether or not you like it is up to you but I'm sure deggie meant no harm by it. In saying that nobody could give you an answer on why iOS 7 for iPad did not include a calculator just like previous versions as we are just fellow users like yourself. That is a question you would need to ask Apple or provide them with feedback on.

I agree with the OP. Why in the world would Apple NOT include the calculator app in the Control Center for iPad?  That is more of a rhetorical question on this board rather than one needing a response from those not in the know. Fun to discuss, however, the lack of so many features that appear would be easy to implement.  I guess with all the bugs, iOS 7.1 has been spotted out in the open so maybe someone in the know might be sitting at a staff meeting and say, "Hey, ***, we should include a cool calculator for iPad users considering the iPad is so utilitarian and is probably sitting on a desk next to the user who needs a calculator. Now I know we never had a calculator app for iPhone either and now look at all the excitement people have expressed toward that simple app."

Anyway, let's see what's next.  In the meantime, I'll close the Control Center and find my free calculator and open it. Cheers

The fact that Apple did not include one in iOS 3,4, etc is certainly not any kind of reasoning for not including it in 7.  Ridiculous. Under that logic, there would never be a need for a new version, only bug fixes. The biggest thing about new versions is adding functionality.  It was a very legitimate question which as someone pointed out was more rhetorical than expecting a logic answer.  Good thing!
