iMac and MacBook Pro 2017

Hello,

I just purchased a new MacBook and I have had an iMac for a few years.  Is there a way I can access my iTunes, iPhoto and Folders that are located on my iMac from my MacBook Pro?  I would love to be able to have one source of truth and add/delete from both locations.

Note: I did try to do the Homeshare in iTunes, but received a 5599 error.
