Does VisionTek SSD

While waiting for Apple to come out with an updated Mac Mini, I'd like to boost the performance of my Mac Mini Late 2012. It has a 500 GB internal drive. VisionTek makes a product called the VisionTek 512GB USB 3.0 SSD Pro, which looks like a USB thumb drive but it supposed to have SSD-like performance.

In theory, I'd think I could plug it into one of my Mac Mini's USB ports, format it, copy my internal drive to it with SuperDuper!, set it as the startup drive, and live happily ever after (or at least for a while).

Can it really be that easy, or are there glitches and gotchas I need to be aware of? Will it "just work," or will I get sucked into a tarpit of issues involving TRIM support and nonstandard drivers?
